Senior Cytotechnologist Supervisor

Job Summary
Manage the daily operations of the Cytology section and support the Pathology Department Chief in a providing high quality diagnostic cytology service.

Overview.
National University Hospital is an established provider of diagnostic pathology services and a major teaching hospital in Singapore. We see a range of gynaecological (liquid based) and non gynaecological specimens including FNA. You will be leading a team of 6 cytotechnologists and 1 laboratory officer.

Duties and Responsibilities
Laboratory Quality Assurance duties:

Ensure compliance with international and national laboratory accreditation organisations including College of American Pathologists
Develop and monitor critical performance indicators for the laboratory and its individuals.
Investigate and resolve adverse incidents.

Supervisory and Administrative duties:

Oversee the electronic laboratory information system for continued improvement and streamlining of workflow.
Supervise staff, regulate staffing levels, conduct performance appraisals, manage roster.
Plan and prepare Capital and Operating budget.

Academic and Diagnostic duties:

Plan and participate in the training of junior cytotechnologists, pathology residents, and organise continuing staff education.
Perform primary and secondary screening of cytology cases.

Job Specifications

Medical Laboratory Technology and Cytology specialist qualification eg CT IAC, CT (ASC) or equivalent.
Experience in gynaecologic (liquid based) and non-gynaecologic cytology, 8-10 years preferred.
Experience in laboratory management and staff supervision is necessary.
Leadership qualities, initiative and drive. Able to work independently.
Familiarity with computer based laboratory information systems, data retrieval and statistical analysis.
Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership qualities are vital. Good team player, and able to motivate others.
