Phycomycosis

[Phycomycosis]

Phycomycosis is characterised by broad, pleomorphic hyphae which are thin walled, delicate and pauciseptate. The hyphae are often twisted, folded and wrinkled and have the appearance of folded ribbons weaving through cells. Hyphae are best demonstrated with GMS as shown in this photograph.
