Mesothelioma - Ultrastructural Features

The distinction between benign and malignant mesothelial cells can be suggested on EM. Benign mesothelial cells show microvilli on the luminal aspect of the cell. However in mesothelioma, cells show aberrant or circumferential microvilli often in direct contact with collagen.
